Abstract
The conference papers are provided in English as well as a full translation and separate document in Arabic. Due to the interdependency of 'human security', 'democratization' and 'gender mainstreaming', the Regional Human Security Center (RI-ISC) at the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy (JID) organized the conference on "Gender and Democratization in the Arab Region" (2002). Its aim was to discuss means of incorporating gender mainstreaming into processes of democratization in the Arab region so as to enforce women's participation in the political life and the economic development of countries.
