Abstract
IDRC supported. Monograph on changes in the causes of poverty and underdevelopment in India between 1870 and 1970 - discusses Dadabhai's 1870 economic theory of Indian impoverishment under British colonial rule (i.e., economic drain to the United Kingdom as a result of imbalance of trade) and the post-independence failure to achieve economic development despite economic policies and economic planning oriented toward the reduction of poverty.
