The reasons for this decline include the introduction of the law banning child marriage in 2016 and the increasing enrolment of girls in school. To further contribute to this decline, a five-year project titled ‘Addressing Teen Pregnancy and Early Marriage in The Gambia’ was implemented by the Society for the Study of Women’s Health, in partnership with the Agency for Development of Women and Children. The study analyzed experiences of pregnant adolescents in accessing antenatal care in Misungwi district, Mwanza Region, Tanzania. Low and middle-income countries, including Tanzania, bear the largest proportion of adolescent perinatal deaths globally. Most adolescent girls in Tanzania do not access antenatal care at health facilities. The story emerging from this cohort comprises three themes: (i) digital health can positively influence health equity; (ii) gender and power analyses are essential; and (iii) digital health can be used to strengthen upward and downward accountability. To enhance monitoring, compliance and fulfilment of economic and social rights the Centre for Economic and Social Rights (U.S.) developed a holistic approach and step by step framework known as the OPERA framework.
